Member of the Beirut Bar Association since 1979 registered under No. 3350, Aref graduated from Université Saint Joseph (Beirut, Lebanon) and Université de Lyon.
He also holds a Diplôme d’Études Approfondies (DEA) in Civil Law from Université de Paris X Nanterre France.

Aref is the founder of AMLF. He is active in the fields of business civil and commercial law, with emphasis in banking and financial laws and regulations, as well as corporate law. While particularly skilled in M&A, capital markets and corporate structuring, he is also highly experienced in laws relating to transfer of obligations, real estate and bankruptcy.
Aref is fluent in English, French and Arabic.

In 1987, Joy began his career as a trainee then as an associate at Georges Jabre Law Firm, a major Lebanese Law Firm specialized in business, commercial, banking and civil law (Middle East and Europe).
Joy is a member of the Beirut Bar Association since 1987 and is holder of 3 Licenses from Saint Joseph University, in Private Law, Public Law and in Political and Administrative Sciences.
In 1987, Joy began his career as a trainee then as an associate at Georges Jabre Law Firm, a major Lebanese Law Firm specialized in business, commercial, banking and civil law (Middle East and Europe).
In 1995, he became an associate and managing partner at Moghaizel Law Offices, also a major Lebanese Law Firm specialized in business, commercial, banking and civil law (Middle East and Europe).
In 1997, he joined GroupMed (as Legal Advisor for Banking and Corporate activities), a group which activities cover a large scope of services provided by specialized entities covering banking, corporate, capital markets, real estate, investment, and logistics services.
In 2001, Joy headed the Legal Department at Bankmed sal, a major Lebanese bank, and in 2005 was promoted as Division Head, heading the Legal Banking and Finance Division (function covering Bankmed sal and the financial subsidiaries of the latter namely the Saudi Lebanese Bank SAL, MedSecurities Investment SAL, SaudiMed Investment Company, Emkan Finance SAL and MedInvestment Bank SAL).
In 2019, Joy became a member of our law firm.
During his years of practice, Joy was also a teacher of commercial and business law and acted as Banks’ staff Trainer/Facilitator regarding various legal investment and legal banking aspects and attended various conferences, seminars and training workshops particularly pertaining to:

Joy’s field of practice encompasses banking, finance, capital markets, compliance, corporate, real estate, litigation, employment, international project finance and loans syndication, data protection laws and regulations (such as GDPR), and international taxation regulations (FATCA and CRS).
Joy is fluent in Arabic, French and English.

Maya graduated from La Sagesse University and holds a Diplôme d’Études Approfondies (DEA) in “Informatique Juridique”. She is a Chevening Fellow at the University of Nottingham and has attended several international courses on international law and human rights.

Maya graduated from La Sagesse University and holds a Ph.D in International Public Law from the Beirut Arab University on business and human rights. She completed a Chevening Fellowship at the University of Nottingham and has attended several international courses on international law and human rights.
Maya is a lecturer on human rights at the Beirut Arab University since 2008 and acts as a consultant to several international organizations. She has authored a large number of studies and publications relating to international law and human rights, and has litigated several cases.
In addition, Maya is experienced in commercial, civil and criminal law, and regularly advises clients in a variety of regulatory matters. She has acted as the legal counsel to The EuroMena Funds (private equity funds investing in the Middle East and Africa) from 2012 till 2020, and held the positions of Partner to the General Partner (UK) and the Fund Management Company (Malta), as well as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) from 2015 till 2019.
Moreover, Maya is a certified Board Director by the International Finance Corporation and Excellence in Governance Lebanon and is a board member to several organizations.
Maya was honoured in 2009 by the US Embassy during a reception in honour of Women’s History Month for contributing to Lebanon’s growth by advocating human rights and peace.

Aline graduated from Université Saint Joseph (Beirut, Lebanon) and has a broad expertise in the field of commercial, banking, corporate and capital markets laws and regulations, with a particular focus on M&A transactions.

Over the past years, Aline contributed in the corporate structuring of several insurance, brokerage, and TPA companies, locally and abroad, as well as in the setup of self-insurance systems, medical mutual funds, and bancassurance activities.
Moreover, Aline has extensive experience in labour and social security laws and she handled several litigations in this respect in addition to commercial, insurance, maritime insurance and administrative litigations.
Aline is fluent in English, French and Arabic.

Rita holds a Bachelor degree in Law from the Lebanese University, a Diplôme d’Études Approfondies (DEA) of Internal and International Business Law from the Filière Francophone de Droit (French section of the Lebanese University) and is a Ph.D. candidate at the Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas and the École Doctorale de l’Université Libanaise. She was granted a fellowship for Ph.D. research in Paris from the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF).

Rita holds a Bachelor degree in Law from the Lebanese University, a Diplôme d’Études Approfondies (DEA) of Internal and International Business Law from the Filière Francophone de Droit (French section of the Lebanese University) and is a Ph.D. candidate at the Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas and the École Doctorale de l’Université Libanaise. She was granted a fellowship for Ph.D. research in Paris from the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF).
She obtained a fellowship from the U.S. Department of State ‘Law and Business Fellowship Program (LBFP)’ to be a MEPI Fellow at the Wharton School – University of Pennsylvania U.S.A with a degree in intensive Master of Laws (LL.M.) courses in Law and Economics then complete an internship at Baker & McKenzie (Chicago, U.S.A.). She is a graduate of the Yale University / Paris 2 (Panthéon-Assas) ‘Summer School in Law and Economics’, and a graduate of the ‘Summer School on Women and Transitional Justice’ organized by the Association Francophone de Justice Transitionnelle and Institut Universitaire Varenne.
She was selected for a ‘National Visiting Professional (NVP)’ program funded by the European Union to work during three months as senior national visiting professional at the office of the prosecutor in an international criminal tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands.
She has participated in several trainings, workshops and international courses in various legal fields, particularly in mediation and arbitration, oil and gas laws, humanitarian law, international criminal law and advocacy training. She was also involved in organizing international seminars.
Rita attended UNCITRAL Sessions in Vienna and New York headquarters for the revision of the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules and the adoption of the UNCITRAL Rules on Transparency of Treaty-based Investor-State Arbitration.
Rita has expertise in civil law and litigation with a variety of specialization areas, domestic and international arbitration, Bilateral Investment Treaties (BITs), FIDIC contracts and litigation, banking, corporate, finance and securities law, international criminal law, humanitarian law and transitional justice.
Rita has authored legal studies and publications in English, French and Arabic, mainly related to arbitration law and capital markets.
Rita is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Arabic. She has working knowledge of Dutch.
Member of the Beirut Bar Association since 2008 registered under No. 11060, Marwan joined AMLF in 2015.
Marwan holds a Bachelor degree in Law from the Lebanese University, a Master degree in Business Administration from the Lebanese American University, and is a Ph.D. candidate in international law. He is an expert lawyer in international commercial arbitration, corporate law, business law and commercial litigations.

Marwan holds a Bachelor degree in Law from the Lebanese University, a Master degree in Business Administration from the Lebanese American University, and is a Ph.D. candidate in international law. He is an expert lawyer in international commercial arbitration, corporate law, business law and commercial litigations.
Prior to joining AMLF, Marwan was a member of the editorial board of both the World Journal of Arbitration and the International Journal of Arab Arbitration, and represented the Arab Association for International Arbitration at several legal workshops held at the United Nations headquarters in New York and Vienna.
Furthermore, Marwan conducted an internship program between Lebanon and China, and is the author of several legal studies.
Marwan is fluent in English, Arabic and French.
